A truly rare and unique Vacheron Constantin late 1930’s tank shaped timepiece in pink gold “CASED AND TIMED IN U.S.A” by LeCoultre.
Due to the high import taxes on precious metals in the U.S., watch companies like Vacheron Constantin would often import just the movements, allowing them to flexibly match these with different cases later. This efficient system meant they could order movements and cases separately, deciding only later which combinations to create.
